How did the Author's Note affect your opinion of the book?

How did the Author's Note, specifically about the historical accuracy of some of the plot devices, affect your opinion of the book?

I was glad tht she wrote it after the story. I did not think she told enough of the event to warrant how it affected Fenna. But her note explain why. I think it might have been a good story in itself, though sad, I'm sure some people carried on.

I always read Author Notes! Having read Kristina McMorris's prior books, I know that she performs extensive, detailed research, so I anticipated reading more about that at the conclusion of the story. I have also watched a couple of her book tour stops that have been broadcast online & she is using a wonderful PowerPoint presentation that includes videos demonstrating some of the gadgets mentioned in the book. She has also posted those vidoes on Facebook & Instagram, so you can watch there. They are fascinating and enhance the experience of reading the book.

McMorriss's note at the end of the novel made me treasure the story even more. I truly appreciate the details and inspirations she shares. Like any historical study, the more backstory, the richer the characters and conclusions become. I admire her candid honesty and willingness to share her inspirations.
