How did Tomoe change during the course of the story? Do you think she made the right decision to leave the battle at the end?

Tomoe felt she made the only decision she could to give her some sense of happiness. She changed because she had to. I wonder why Hikari did not grow and change in the years she was raising the girls.
Surely she feared their lose, but some changes might have improved the situation. I didn't get the feeling that she ever tried.

Tomoe was constantly torn between her warrior women and her feminine desires. She made a choice for her own happiness in the end and I think it was a good decision. She had learned that she was allowed to make her decisions.

Like joyces stated, Tomoe was constantly torn between the warrior side vs. the feminine side. The way it ended gave her the pleasure to experience both parts of herself. I was happy that she was able to experience being a mother and the joys that go with that.

Yes she made the right decision. Her superior ordered her to do it so she needed to follow his orders. Also it was the wise thing to do. She was then able to allow herself to enjoy her new motherhood. I think this definitely changed the course of the story.
