Dayna Dunbar is a native Oklahoman who currently makes her home in Los Angeles. She has written screenplays and was part of the production team for the 1996 film William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Communications from the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico and a Master's degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica in California.

When asked whether her first novel is autobiographical, she says, 'it is somewhat autobiographical in that I have taken aspects of my life, such as small town life and the characters that one finds there, and I've woven this with fictional situations and people. My parents divorced when I was a child, and this made it pretty easy to write about the kids and their experiences in a broken home.'

She is currently writing a sequel which begins shortly after the end of the first novel and takes Aletta on a long journey of self-discovery.
