Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis: The Untold Story
by Barbara Leaming
Jackie Kennedy Onassis Explained (11/5/2014)
Several of the strongest images from my youth were poignantly visualized in this book. The JFK assassination, Jackie Kennedy in her blood stained clothes, the black shrouded widow silently walking behind her husband's casket to St. Matthew's Cathedral, the murders of Bobby and Martin Luther King, and the Vietnam War. Leaming's observations and well-documented research takes the reader to the aha moment when, 31 years later, Jackie's life is understood by our growing knowledge of PTSD. This reader recommends this book for the reader seeking an understanding of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, American history, and the effects of history's accompanying traumas on the mental health of society and our leaders.

The Paris Wife: A Novel
by Paula McLain
The Paris Wife (12/20/2010)
The Paris Wife by Paula McLain was a disappointment to me. None of the characters, especially those of Hemingway and Hadley, became alive as I read the book. The relaxed pace of the book never gained enough speed to capture the excitement of running the bulls of Pamplona nor the intensity of the Paris when many of the most important literary figures of time gathered, or the intricate first marriage of Hemingway.
Ms. McLain used reliable research sources for her fictional account of the marriage between Hadley Richardson and Ernest Hemingway, and the reader wanting a Lost Generation moment or two would be better off to stick to those sources than The Paris Wife.
The New Global Student: Skip the SAT, Save Thousands on Tuition, and Get a Truly International Education
by Maya Frost
The New Global Student and I Want to go too! (12/2/2009)
I haven’t read a book like The New Global Student by Maya Frost ever. Ms. Frost’s book is an exceptionally inspirational parenting book for the 21st century. I was a bit skeptical about finances for an international education, but with the reliable web resources and other tips, those doubts have disappeared. This book is a friendly, enjoyable, and personal read while promoting the concepts and advantages of a global education. I highly recommend it to school and public libraries for purchase. I have recommended it to my friends and family with kids who want the broad life experiences of a non-traditional educational route. Thanks and kudos to the author and her family for sharing their global experiences and guiding others to this adventure.
