Gillespie and I: A Novel
by Jane Harris
Dull, plodding, stereotypical characters. (7/25/2021)
Although much happens throughout the book, it reads as if nothing really happens. I understand there is meant to be tension; between the characters, and in the plot, but it is rather dull and a slog to get through. One wants to shake many of the characters and wake them up from their somnolent stupor, but it never happens, even with the rather contrived plot twists. This seems a book for elderly women, which is fine, no objections to that. But for many men and women who prefer something of substance, I would say pass on this one.
