I'm writing a memoir and have been looking for examples of memoirists who tell their story nonlinearly--who effectively weave together short stories / scenes to tell a compelling story. Black is the Body is one of the few I've read that achieves this. The way she's weaved the stories together is nothing less than masterful. I've read it twice and my husband read it in one sitting--said he couldn't put it down--which is notable because he never reads memoirs.
