Harper’s first book ”The Dry” was a captivating read: well-rounded characters, fascinating mystery. Unputdownable! Also enjoyed ”The Lost Man” immensely. ”The Exiles” has been a disappointment. One setting, not described very well; unformed characters that are hard to tell apart; tempos keeps shifting, annoyingly; never-ending dialogues are repeated, ad nauseam. Looked at end after 150 pages; not surprised.
