Painted Horses
by Malcolm Brooks
Painted Horses (5/12/2023)
This book had some really great descriptive elements. As a horse owner, I find that most authors'
actually know very little about horses and their writing shows it, but Brooks obviously knows horses. He also paints wonderful word pictures of the landscapes. But he should really stick to writing about men, because his female protagonists have absolutely no depth and no discretion. The story was depressing and gets more depressing still the more you read. The ending is jarring, with no redeeming qualities. It's the perfect book to put the reader into a black fugue for days. I wish I had Googled the plot before reading it, as I never would have done so if I had known what I was letting myself in for.
