The High House: A Novel
by Jessie Greengrass
Apocalypse Now (7/22/2023)
I was reluctant to read The High House, thinking it might depress me and God knows, most of what I read or hear these days is depressing. And indeed, Greengrass imagines the future with eyes wide open, opening readers' eyes to a bleak future. The interrupted narrative flow made it unnecessarily difficult to grab onto at first, however. It takes work and determination to find your feet in it, but halfway through one becomes engrossed.
