Michael Beschloss has produced his usual good work in "The Conquerors". However, it is surprising that no mention was made of the Harrison Report (August 1945) and President Truman's effort in causing Prime Minister Attlee to allow the immigration of 100,000 neglected survivors of the holocaust and other Jewish refugees into Palestine. They formed the nucleus of Ben Gurion's army that later won statehood for Israel. If Ben Gurion was the father of the Israeli Republic, Harry Truman must have been its Godfather and should be thus remembered....
