Wow! The story is full of plot twists, with subtle details revealed as the narrative shifts between then and now, with diary entries spaced just far enough apart to keep the reader a bit off-kilter. I found the book difficult to put down, reading the proverbial "one more chapter" into the wee hours of the morning. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good thriller with surprises right up to the end.

This was one of those books where I kept telling myself "just one more chapter." The many plot twists kept me guessing until the very end. I really enjoyed how the author used the present, past, and childhood of the main character to give us insight into the truth behind the mystery. Definitely a fast read!

I loved this book and I have been practically demanding that the people around me read it. I couldn't put it down. I started in the morning and all of a sudden it was dark outside. I would think I knew what was going on and then the author would throw a curveball. A couple times my jaw dropped at a plot development and I wondered how I had missed the clues. I definitely did not predict the ending. The author's prose is beautiful and compelling, and telling the twisted story in three time periods is clever. The troubled/troubling characters were well developed.

As soon as I finished it, I decided I needed to reread it to look for what I had missed. I believe it would make a suspenseful, tense movie and now I understand it will be a TV series. I think book clubs would have a lot to talk about. Congrats to the author on a fantastic story that I will never forget. I can't wait for her next novel.

The first two pages of this book had my palms sweating, my heart racing, and I was actually panting. I have never reacted to a book like this before. I have read a ton of suspense and psychological suspense books before. Of course, some of them made me a little jumpy. Or i made sure I wasn't alone when i was reading them. Nothing prepared me for how wonderful twisty and suspenseful this book was. Some are comparing it to Gone Girl. Absolutely not. This book gets going right out of the gate and never stops. I loved how it grabbed me and never let me go. This plot is crazy and I have never read anything like it. It really was wonderful. Kudos to the author.

A psychological thriller in the style of "Gone Girl" or "The Dinner". The narrator of "Sometimes I Lie" is in a coma and the author uses her past and present to tell the story. I loved the use of Amber's deranged former ex and also her imaginary friend. Lots of plot twists and revelations — I went back through the story more than once for clarity. In the hands of Alice Feeney the psychological thriller is alive and well!

"Sometimes I Lie" overtook me with the author's unique writing style of moving us from present to past to distant past. Chapter by chapter more details are revealed about the main character, putting this book in the "can't put it down" category. I felt so many different emotions with each chapter, but overall I would consider this a thriller and a definite page turner! An exhilarating read for all and a great book to gift. Hoping Alice Feeney is already at work on her next book.

The narrator of this story is a woman in a coma. The circumstances by which she came to be in a coma are ambiguous at best and is just one of the myriad mysteries that eventually become unraveled. To call this book a psychological thriller doesn't begin to do it justice. There is so much to untangle in this story. Things proceed fairly simply until you are about three-quarters of the way through. It is then you realize everything you assumed to be true was nothing more than an illusion. Brilliantly crafted prose and deeply flawed characters only serve to make this story all the more disturbing. I haven't been this affected by a book's ending in a long, long time.

Amber was injured in a vehicle wreck which leaves her in a coma. She is paralyzed, cannot move nor open her eyes. She can hear what is going on around her. She cannot remember how the accident happened but she remembers her childhood and up to the time of the wreck. We learn what has gone before from her childhood memories and diary entries and alternately from the preceding week. The author is very good at building suspense and each time we have a time shift, we learn and turn the pages faster.
Her memories are of extreme jealousy between herself and her sister Claire. Despite the jealousy, they are very close and love each other. Amber is married but has been unable to have children. Her sister is married with twin children.
In the near past, things have happened that makes Amber distrust her husband and she is afraid that her husband is in love with Claire.
Another complication for Amber is an ex-suitor who works at the hospital has begun visiting her.
I enjoyed reading this book and believe that anyone who likes suspenseful stories would also like it.
