Tiger Tiger
The Magician Of Tiger Castle charmed me. I loved how real the characters were, even down to Luigi. The castle and events came to life on the page—the dusty roads, the hungry tiger, the politics of castle life. The story pulled me in with its twists and turns. It was great to see Louis Sachar tackling adult fantasy. Take a chance on it. You won't regret it.

Adult Debut?
I loved Louis Sachar's Holes as a kid, so I was super excited to read his adult debut The Magician of Tiger Castle. This book was fun to read and had a few surprises, but it took a bit to get into the story and characters. This has a lot of fairy tale undertones and once you get past the first world building pages; the story Anatole spins does draw you in. This reminded me of the movie version of The Princess Bride with the narrator drawing you into a fantastical story that couldn't quite be real. If you like cozy mystery type books you probably would like this one.

The Magician of Tiger Castle
The Magician of Tiger Castle is an unusual story. It has the simplicity of a children's story, however, parts of the book are more adult oriented. I was surprised about the author's style until I read that this is his first adult book. It's an easy read and fairly interesting tale that is set in medieval times. Unlike most children's fairy tales the main characters are well developed and not entirely good or bad. The book has some very humorous and touching moments. I rated the book as "Average" because the plot was simple and rather predictable. The story needed more depth and complexity. More background on medieval magicians and history of magic would have enriched the story.

A Pinch of Courage and Cup of Love
The Magician of Tiger Castle is an enchanting and creative story in which the referenced magician's determination and skills wage war against evil and injustice. The ensuing adventure involves characters with unique gifts and traits enduring harsh conditions in a struggle to survive.

As with one of my favorite Sachar novels, Holes, this novel evoked a strong sense of hope and stressed the oft-underestimated power of love.

Sachar's adult novel
I have read and totally enjoyed Sachar's young adult novels. This "adult" novel is along the same lines, with some swear words added!
