Good Beach Read
Heat Wave is an enjoyable book that deals with love, loss, and moving on. New widow Carley learns to transcend loss with the help of friends, family and a new love. Starting a new B&B in her home adds a different dimension of warmth and strength that I enjoyed. The ending seemed a bit rushed, but all in all a good beach read.

Heat Wave
Another terrific book by Nancy Thayer, Heat Wave is a great read. Well-written, with interesting & realistic characters, the story follows recent widow, Carley & her 2 young daughters, as they struggle with their loss & changed financial status. As always, Ms. Thayer has written a book, full of warmth & insight.

Add this to the beach bag!
This time of year, I start my search for fiction that will keep my interest but not be too heavy (both in weight and subject!) to be tossed in the beach bag. Thayer's newest fits the bill perfectly--a well written and engaging look at how grief, loss and change affect the ties that bind women to others: mothers to daughters, friends to friends, lover to lover and more. While it breaks no new ground, it is full of characters that hold your interest and situations that are neatly tied up in the end. In short: a perfect book for that weekend at the shore or the summer cabin!

A Good Summer Read
Thayer invites the reader to know the place and selected people of Nantucket Island, a place I've never been but one I'd like to visit...especially after reading this book. An easy read, the story leads us through the ups and downs in the lives of Las Tres Enchiladas, their families and friends. Birth, death, children, family, romance, all are experienced through the life of Carley who, despite objections, opens a B&B in her mother-in-law's childhood home. Heat Wave is perfect summer reading.

Great Beach Read.
A book to just relax with, a story of relationships, food and starring in the background, Nantucket. Lose yourself in the story of friends, the good, the bad and the ugly and yet, in the end still friends. Highly entertaining, meant to be read outside with the image in your mind of an island B&B, a nice breeze, crashing waves and a good story.

Good beach read
I read the book in 1 1/2 days as it moved along very quickly, and the characters seemed more like friends than characters on the pages. Love, loss, and love again in Nantucket where the winters can be harsh and you need true friends but the summers are wonderful.

Nancy Thayer does it again!

Heat Wave
Heat Wave was a good beach read. no surprises. However, there were some disconnect.
Wendy E. (Mechanicsville, VA)

Lazy Beach Read
After after a string of heavier titles, Heat Wave is a great light book to get lost in for awhile. The plot is a bit predictable and the characters could use a some more depth, but it is still worth the investment of time to check out Thayer's latest book. She covers everything from family ties, parenting, loss, business, new love, and betrayal in Heat Wave. It would be perfect to sit on the shore while reading about this Nantucket community.
