Brutal Youth
The title of this book is certainly apt. I still remember issues that I went through during high school, but nothing like this. It's such an impressionable time and, unless you are among the most popular and elite of students, it can definitely be stressful and hard to overcome. That was in my day. If experiences in this book are what high school is like now, I need to get my niece's and nephew's kids in intense therapy. This was difficult to read because of the subject matter, but I think the author is good at his craft.

Brutal Youth
This coming of age, possibly young adult, novel is no doubt destined to become a movie. I had to keep reminding myself it took place in the 1990's and not the 1950's. It was a poor reflection of parochial schools and the bullying that was allowed and even encouraged by the staff and clergy was troubling. The characters were well crafted and as the author's debut novel it should be applauded as such but I know it would not appeal to my book group.

Brutal Youth
This book was certainly a page turner, but nothing more. I could not connect with the characters, the storyline was all over the place and the story in itself overdone.

Not for Me
I tried reading this book several times...but I found that I just didn't like the characters or the subject matter. As I read along I had no feelings for the characters and that made my decision not to continue reading...
